I love feeling fabulous…Doesn’t everyone want to feel comfy in their own skin? That feeling of being lean, strong and healthy is amazing but it isn’t rocket science. When most people think of exercise they think of “losing weight” for me that’s not the case, the superficial benefits surely do pay off but they aren’t my motivation. I don’t feel like I’m in need of
losing any weight—yet I work out more than anyone I know. WHY?– I do it all for the feeling; healthy feels fabulous on the inside and just simply because I love “The Sweat”. I also can’t get enough of the rush from challenging myself both mentally and physically combined.
Being fit isn’t rocket science, it’s a discipline. As many of you may know I’m a health and fitness nut, and I will admit it takes a little work, but it’s really not that difficult to get into a routine that gets your body into a place of health contentment and still be able to enjoy life to the finest
degree (in moderation). If you listen to me, I promise one day you’ll look back and ask yourself, why didn’t I do this before??
Here’s my simple guide to be fit and fabulous:
1) Decide to commit to yourself, just quit the excuses already, they’re lame.
2) Plan… There’s always time, schedule it in your iPhone, write it down on a post it just do it like you would any other important appointment or ahem sitting on the couch basking in potato chips.
3) Tiny actions… It doesn’t take a mountain to move a mole-hill. You don’t need to workout 3 hours a day 7 days a week (I know I do *sometimes, but I do this for a living). Get some powerful punches in and the rest is a piece of cake! Any little step in the right direction is impactful and beneficial! For example: take the stairs vs. elevator, walk more, have sex (always practice safe sex), stand up from your desk and stretch every so often, hydrate with water often, catch up with the girls over a workout rather than dinner and drinks, think positively about yourself, eat almonds vs. chips, protein bar vs. a candy bar, order your ____ with no cheese, sauce on the side, take half your meal to go, always eat organic especially meats, drop the loaf of bread, pick up some whole grains… I could go on forever (note taken—NEXT article).
4) Focus on you… Stick to your guns, stay on track, grocery shop and cook or get a home delivery service for food; whatever you do just be prepared and don’t eat the same stuff or as much your man does, it’s tempting but you aren’t built the same and if you do 9x out of 10 you’ll plump up like a chicken on steroids. Focus on the gift of feeling fabulous and not the immediate fruits of your labor; obsessing over losing weight is no bueno. Do stuff you enjoy, jump off the scale, remove the guilt, quit the diet, stop the pain, lose the yo-yo, find some balance and enjoy your life.
5) Get results… These feel more fabulous than they look, I contend to that—not to mention everything in life will seem like a piece of cake or at least more manageable, you’ll wind up in those skinny jeans after all and if you already fit in them (amazing) when you get healthy you’ll live like a queen for a long time!
