Are you out of shape, lost and confused when it comes to eating? Tailoring your diet can help your energy levels, slim you down and make you feel great in a big way!
Start fresh, today is a new day: The toughest part about getting into a healthy shape and space is the beginning. Trying something unfamiliar can be incredible daunting, overwhelming and stressful– so change your way of thinking! Instead of setting yourself up for failure by going on some weird “health kick” or “diet plan” (which rarely last because they are so dreadful) think of it as a fresh start and a new way of life.
Begin: By Slowly incorporating healthier options and reducing portion sizes. Before you know it there will be no space for the not so good stuff; you’ll be feeling and looking great before you know it!
Diet: Diets don’t work, they put you into starvation mode, designed to give you instant fat or weightless, but because they put you into starvation mode, you’ll be hungry and miserable. Once you quit the diet, the weight lost is then found, plus possibly a bit extra (due to a decreased metabolism).
Try food pairing: Animal proteins with *healthy fats (nuts, seeds, Omega-3s, avocado, oils) greens and/or vegetables. Proper food combining and pairing helps speed along digestion. Foods will assimilate at an accelerated pace (excellent for absorption of nutrients) and eliminate faster.
Healthy Fats: Unfortunately our bodies haven’t evolved like everything else in the world – they hold and store fat incase required to survive in the wild like the cave men we once used to be. In order to burn fat, it is essential to consume healthy fats – our bodies are just designed that way.
Be prepared: Most often eating poorly involves dining out; because when you’re not preparing your own food, you don’t know what’s in it (excess, sugar, salt and fat are added to make it taste good). It can also be challenging to eat the right foods when dining out because of the variety of exciting options that are not-so healthy. Fast food may be quick and convenient, but it’s high in calories and low in nutrients. Cook and prepare foods at home in advance so that when you are on the go, you can easily have something ready to eat in a snap (and save a bit of money from eating out). When you are in charge you’ll be more accountable for what goes on your plate and in your body.
Cleanse: There are a lot of detoxes on the market – I really love a juice cleanse now and again to give my body a break (it’s like pressing a reset button). Try a 3 or 5 day depending on what you feel is necessary: ZEN Foods Cleanse.
Natural Detox: Cleansing is great once in a while, but unnecessary to do all the time. Simply avoid processed and fried foods at all costs, minimize refined sugars, alcohol, carbohydrates and mucus forming dairy. Pair with yoga for best results.
Mental: Give yourself some love and affection. Repeat positivity to yourself in your head or in the mirror, what you think you are.
Goodness: Take a bubble bath, a moment for yourself. Ditch some of your dirty vices especially the cancer sticks (read the book “The Easy Way” by Alan Carr –you can smoke the whole way through reading the book and I promise it works. Read often, learn something new, walk and take the stairs whenever possible, call your someone you love, buy yourself flowers, smile for no reason, follow your passion, spread your positive energy, it’s never too late!
