Nutrition 101

Published on Monday, February 4, 2013 By Amy Lynn Grover

After about 5 years in LA, and a lot of trial and error.

I’ve tried and studied just about every way of eating (diet) and cleansing ritual. I’ve picked up some great habits, learned what has worked for me and what doesn’t. What you eat depends on everything about you…

Dieting/Diets don’t work.

They are restrictive, perhaps eating much less than what you are used to or restricting particular foods or food groups. Regardless too much restriction on your diet causes you to rebel in a sense or and cave in from mental anguish simply because the diet is unsustainable long term because the body isn’t getting what it needs from the food.

What to Eat?

That all depends… What’s in your diet should really depend on what is in season where you live and what you enjoy. Other considerations: blood type, activity levels, allergies…

How much you eat?

Again this depends but not limited to things like your gender, weight, height, activity level

Be constant day to day.

Eating mostly the same foods from day to day: protein, fat, veggies, leafy greens and zero starchy or refined carbohydrates and organic wherever possible, gives you what I need for adequate nourishment, do your best to keep sugar intake low, because sugar is worse than crack (the more you eat the more you want).  Plus good nutritious foods give less room for craving not so good foods and I stay energized, satisfied, and full. I enjoy life, I generally don’t diet so I don’t need to cheat or deprive myself, if I want something I’ll undoubtably have it and not feel bad about it.
