Nutrition Rules

Published on Friday, September 14, 2012 By Amy Lynn Grover

Your body composition has a lot to do with how much you move, however more importantly it has much more to do with what you put in it.  If you are trying to lose weight don’t lose hope by another failed diet.

Follow these easy rules and watch the pounds melt away:

#1 Avoid “white” starchy carbohydrates. This means all bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, and grains. If you have to ask, don’t eat it.

#2 Eat fat. In order to burn fat your body requires it otherwise it will store it like a caveman. Eat nuts, seeds, avocado, raw young coconut meat, coconut, almond, olive oils, omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids.

#3 Eat similar meals consistently, pick staple meals you enjoy especially for breakfast and lunch. I do a protein shake for breakfast, a salad with protein/avocado for lunch and protein with veggies for dinner EVERYDAY (the choice of meat and veggies alternate but the meals don’t).

#4 Don’t drink calories. No sports drinks, juices or soda’s. A couple glasses of red wine is cool from time to time.

#5 Limit your fruit intake. Only exception is avocado and tomatoes. Fruit is full of sugar, which boils down to accumulating body fat.

#6 No cheat days or cheat foods, if you want it eat it. Eating one bad food isn’t going to kill you, it’s the habit and accumulation of a poor diet all the time that adds up negatively.

#7 Get grounded, when you start sliding, it’s easy to fall off.  If you slip up and eat something full of sugar, salty, fried, processed or whatever– JUST ENJOY it and get back on board!

#8 Reward yourself. Just not with food.

#9 Be mindful, but not obsessive.  Enjoy life and don’t allow your weight or what you eat control your life.

#10 Be Positive.  A happy, healthier and thinner you looks hot inside and out.
