Use the gym for it’s purpose: to sweat and burn calories. Be positive and send out good vibes!
Spark your inner child: Where ever you get your motivation from, grab it and run with it, by grooving to your music, using all the available equipment like using the balls and bands, try a handstand–Just PLAY!! Pretend like the gym is your playground and be a kid again.
Classes: Try one! They are fun, and great for motivation, inspiration and know-how, just don’t stand in the front row if you don’t know what you are doing or if you aren’t prepared to work your hardest.
The weight room: As much as it is intimidating, get in there and be confident. If you don’t know what you’re doing, ask someone that does for help or to check your form. Strong is sexy! Put weights back after use, be mindful of other people’s space, mirrors etc.
Equipment: Be courteous and share, wipe it down and put it back in where it belongs when you’re done.
Clothing: Wear comfortable stretchy clothes that fit. Darker bottoms are best (sweat shows in not so hot places in lighter colors-fabric depending), make sure your sports bra and shoes are supportive and are appropriate for your body type and workout (high impact might require extra support). Supportive shoes are a must, I love my Nike Frees and Vibrams. If you’re a runner, replace every few months.
Have fun. Do your thing, breath…

Great post- I love your suggestions! I feel like we, as women, often become far too concerned about what other people think of us in the gym. We aren’t there to put on a show! We’re there to sweat and tone our muscles.
You could go further to emphasize the point that it’s crucial to not compare yourself to others when working out. Sometimes it’s intimidating when you see another girl benching or doing squats with the boys in the weight room- however, it’s important to focus on yourself and not what others are doing.
I look forward to reading more of your tips and future posts!
Thank you! I think so! I think it’s so important to stay focused on what’s good for you, not your friend or anyone else. Really being in tuned with your own body.
It’s much easier to underatsnd when you put it that way!
