Organize your life and be prepared to feel fabulously on top of the world

In a time where we have an abundance of technology to aid us, it still seems as though there are never enough hours in the day; why waste any precious time piddling around– Get organized and be prepared, this way you can spend time on things that matter.Being organization in all aspects of life will make better more effective use of your time to get things done.  Most important and by organizing your life your mind can then be clutter free.  Organization will keep you happy and healthy.

Chunking: Is key to efficiency and also the easiest way to break tasks at hand down.  I personally find projects/tasks to be incredibly daunting if they aren’t broken down into smaller manageable ideas. Set aside a good amount of time to take on tasks that fall into similar categories and completing in an organized fashion.

Make Lists: I write  lists for everything including lists for things I want to write about.  I’m forgetful sometimes, it just makes it easy for when I’m in a hurry (almost always).  The worst is forgetting something in the supermarket or across town and then having to drive all the way back out for 1 silly thing.

Your life.  Back up everything, copies of what’s in your wallet, phone and computer (if you can sync them all together even better).

Make a list of everything you need and want to get done over the course of the week everything from grocery shopping, laundry, paying the bills to things you’d like to be doing more of such as hitting the gym or your yoga mat.

Develop a system that works for you; plug it all into the week by arranging tasks according to importance and when they need to be done by.   Methodize errands and tasks so that you can get more done in one place; pay all the bills on the same day that you are at home doing laundry with a face mask on, get all the groceries and running around done on the same day in the same area.  Having a plan doesn’t mean you have to have your life set in stone; it’s more of a guideline to help you stay on track.

Your living quarters. The closet, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen all need a fail proof set up.  They need to be clean, clutter free, de-junked, labeled and/or compartmentalized.  You may be due for a major clean out, which is usually due when the seasons change (spring and fall especially).  Pick a day when you can go through all your things to sort and clean and then get rid of the things you don’t use or need anymore.  It is imperative to have everything flowing seamlessly so you can easily pick out what to wear, get ready, eat breakfast and get out the door with time to spare.

Most importantly–The Closet! When in a rush (who isn’t?), the closet can turn into a complete nightmare if you can’t decide what to wear.  It’s best to have all your things neatly in the right place so that when you are dashing out the door you know exactly where to find them.  Put all your skinny jeans in a stack; basic tanks and Ts go in one drawer and workout clothes in another.  You can color coordinate, arrange by the season, dressy stuff in one section and more casual in another – however you decide, work out a system that fits you and your wardrobe.  If you haven’t worn it in over 3 months get rid of it, you’ll probably never wear it.  I swear it makes getting dressed in a hurry a breeze!  When you are dressed appropriately for the event in clothes that look good on you, your confidence will be up and your day will seem that much better.

Kitchen: Set yourself up for success, if you don’t want to eat junk food, stop stocking your pantry and fridge with the crap; if it is there you will undoubtedly eat it.  Cereal is not dinner, I know cooking for one stinks; and buying the right amount for the week with enough variety sometimes stuff goes bad.  I recommend freezing.  Buy individually wrapped cuts of meat and fish, cook enough for dinner + lunch tomorrow. Frozen veggies are a great option, easy to add to any meal shake.  Invest in a good food processor or blender, to make smoothies and soups – perfect for the healthy woman on the go.

Always: keep an extra pair of runners and flip flops in the car.  Pack your gym bag the night before.  Keep a healthy snack in your purse that doesn’t go bad eith almonds or a granola bar so you don’t make a bad decision when your blood sugar is low.  Drink enough water throughout the day (not all at once).  Chew gum if you have the munchies.

Cleansing Soup ++

This soup is very similar to the one I posted the other day, just with a little bit of a different flair.  The cabbage is chalk full of fiber and is sure to keep you full! I’m eating it while I cleanse, you can eat it to warm you up or simply just enjoy!
In the Pot:
2 cubes veggie low sodium bouillon
1 tbsp Miso
1 tsp turmeric
½ tsp paprika
1 bay leaf
sea salt and pepper to taste
3 cups water
In the vitamix or food processor:
½ onion
1 head garlic (peeled)
2 zucchinis
1 bunch kale
¾ cabbage
3 stalks celery½ tomato

Stir every thing into medium-large sized pot and simmer for 10 minutes and serve.  Pour the remainder into glass air tight container to store for later.

Cleansing the Body

Cleansing is wonderful, it aids our bodies to rid unwanted toxins and foreign substances. It occurs daily in one form or another (tears, sweat, mucus, urine), and for women (lucky us) we get the opportunity to cleanse once a month; not only do we shed our uterus lining our entire body enters cleansing mode (which is why women typically out live men). Cleansing results in a higher level of health and immunity.

Toxic Explanation: Intestines are not water tight, if anything gets stuck for long periods of time, the toxins from the foods, feces, bacteria, mucus  overflow into your blood stream. This can causes bloating, back-up, congestion and skin starts to feel and look puffy.

How Often: As often as you feel necessary, just don’t over do it.

Type: Colonics, Fresh pressed juices, boxed cleanses (health food stores)

Cleansing is Mental too: Throughout life we experience traumas major and minor, we have thoughts and feelings on events and times; all of which get impacted and lay within our physical bodies.  Cleansing can bring up a variety of emotions that have been suppressed over the years.  Cleansing can help with the process of “letting go” of things withheld in the body. With that being said, allow time for you to go through the process and get the best out of it. Healing our physical body is also cleansing our mind and emotions, without warning you may feel sad or angry or start crying about something unimportant.

Cleansing Diet: Juicing  (fresh pressed unpasteurized) and eating lighter than usual to give your body a break.  Avoid: dairy and other mucus forming foods, caffeine, supplementation, processed foods or fried foods. Drink plenty of water 8-10 glasses.

On the cleanse: Cleansing is a process wherein the body is working hard to rid itself of toxins; you may feel tired and need extra rest during this time.  Take extra caution and listen to your body, vigorous exercise is not recommended.  Aloe Vera juice is excellent at bedtime to coat and calm your stomach and intestines.

*Cleansing can help kick-starting a weight loss program, however it should not be a means for weight loss.

**Long or short term liquid diets or not eating can be very harmful to your body.  In fact people who do such cleanses as the ‘Master Cleanse’ (cayenne pepper, lemon & maple syrup), or liquid only juicing diets for extended periods of time wind up losing mostly muscle.  Once completed and you are eating food again, the metabolism will have slowed from all the muscle loss (muscle burns fat and is what keeps are metabolisms kicking), which results in more weight gained than lost (which for most people trying that sort of cleanse, weight loss is their main purpose).

***Fad diets and cleanse pills are usually unsustainable, meaning once you come off the diet or cleanse you usually gain the weight back and then some.
