In a time where we have an abundance of technology to aid us, it still seems as though there are never enough hours in the day; why waste any precious time piddling around– Get organized and be prepared, this way you can spend time on things that matter.Being organization in all aspects of life will make better more effective use of your time to get things done. Most important and by organizing your life your mind can then be clutter free. Organization will keep you happy and healthy.
Chunking: Is key to efficiency and also the easiest way to break tasks at hand down. I personally find projects/tasks to be incredibly daunting if they aren’t broken down into smaller manageable ideas. Set aside a good amount of time to take on tasks that fall into similar categories and completing in an organized fashion.
Make Lists: I write lists for everything including lists for things I want to write about. I’m forgetful sometimes, it just makes it easy for when I’m in a hurry (almost always). The worst is forgetting something in the supermarket or across town and then having to drive all the way back out for 1 silly thing.
Make a list of everything you need and want to get done over the course of the week everything from grocery shopping, laundry, paying the bills to things you’d like to be doing more of such as hitting the gym or your yoga mat.
Develop a system that works for you; plug it all into the week by arranging tasks according to importance and when they need to be done by. Methodize errands and tasks so that you can get more done in one place; pay all the bills on the same day that you are at home doing laundry with a face mask on, get all the groceries and running around done on the same day in the same area. Having a plan doesn’t mean you have to have your life set in stone; it’s more of a guideline to help you stay on track.
Your living quarters. The closet, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen all need a fail proof set up. They need to be clean, clutter free, de-junked, labeled and/or compartmentalized. You may be due for a major clean out, which is usually due when the seasons change (spring and fall especially). Pick a day when you can go through all your things to sort and clean and then get rid of the things you don’t use or need anymore. It is imperative to have everything flowing seamlessly so you can easily pick out what to wear, get ready, eat breakfast and get out the door with time to spare.
Most importantly–The Closet! When in a rush (who isn’t?), the closet can turn into a complete nightmare if you can’t decide what to wear. It’s best to have all your things neatly in the right place so that when you are dashing out the door you know exactly where to find them. Put all your skinny jeans in a stack; basic tanks and Ts go in one drawer and workout clothes in another. You can color coordinate, arrange by the season, dressy stuff in one section and more casual in another – however you decide, work out a system that fits you and your wardrobe. If you haven’t worn it in over 3 months get rid of it, you’ll probably never wear it. I swear it makes getting dressed in a hurry a breeze! When you are dressed appropriately for the event in clothes that look good on you, your confidence will be up and your day will seem that much better.
Kitchen: Set yourself up for success, if you don’t want to eat junk food, stop stocking your pantry and fridge with the crap; if it is there you will undoubtedly eat it. Cereal is not dinner, I know cooking for one stinks; and buying the right amount for the week with enough variety sometimes stuff goes bad. I recommend freezing. Buy individually wrapped cuts of meat and fish, cook enough for dinner + lunch tomorrow. Frozen veggies are a great option, easy to add to any meal shake. Invest in a good food processor or blender, to make smoothies and soups – perfect for the healthy woman on the go.
Always: keep an extra pair of runners and flip flops in the car. Pack your gym bag the night before. Keep a healthy snack in your purse that doesn’t go bad eith almonds or a granola bar so you don’t make a bad decision when your blood sugar is low. Drink enough water throughout the day (not all at once). Chew gum if you have the munchies.
